Development Cartridges
Development cartridges were used during the development (obviously) of DS titles. These cartridges are longer in in order to pack in a bit more tech than the consumer DS carts. Some development carts feature breakout boards and all of them are rewritable media. Some development carts were able to be written to using an IS-NITRO-Writer. Intelligent Systems developed these in conjunction with Nintendo for developers to program test/dev cartridges for use on the console. The back cover can be unscrewed to replace the EEPROM contained within, if need be.

Distribution Cartridges
Distribution cartridges can be verified using the standard DS verification guide. Due to the placement of the ID sticker on the back of the cartridge, you won't be able to see the cartridge stamp. This is normal. Distribution cartridges were used for special events, including Pokemon.
NTR-005(-04) Carts
There are 2x known NTR-005(-04) cartridges, neither of which were released in NTSC regions:
- Kuruma de DS (DS in the Car)
- Learn with Pokemon: Typing Adventure
The cartridges include a Bluetooth receiver on the cartridge itself (hence the -04 suffix) for utilisation of a bundled keyboard (see NTR-034), or to be used with select ECLIPSE car navigation systems in Hondas or Toyotas. The NTR-005(-04) cartridge is similar in colour to the NTR-005 cartridges, with the addition of Bluetooth on the PCB and utilising an 11-digit or 7-digit stamp¹ in a different format and typeface. These carts are denoted using NTR-UZxx-xxx; and have "Made in China" debossed on the rear of the casing.

Fun tidbit of information you may not know, Kuruma de DS was published by Nintendo with Honda and Toyota! You could set your GPS destination from the DS itself, if you had the funds to do so and a compatible car (Toyota Alphard, Estima, Prius, Vellfire; and Honda Fit).

NTR-008 Carts
The NTR-008 cartridge is the Nintendo DS Rumble Pak. The NTR-008 cartridges are used in conjunction with certain DS games to enable your DS to have vibrations similar to the Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox. These were released in all markets. Whilst not using the DS cartridge format, these cartridges are similar in footprint to the Game Boy Advance cartridges but are not compatible with the Game Boy Advance due to the casings being slightly different. The NTR-008 cartridges were only compatible with the original DS (Phat) and DS Lite. As there's on GBA/expansion slot on the DSi/2DS/3DS, these cartridges are also not compatible for these consoles.

NTR-011 Carts
The NTR-011 cartridge is the Nintendo DS Memory Expansion Pak. The NTR-011 cartridges are used in conjunction with certain DS games and applications to enable your DS to utilise more system memory. These were released in all markets. Whilst not using the DS cartridge format, these cartridges are similar in footprint to the Game Boy Advance cartridges but are not compatible with the Game Boy Advance due to the casings being slightly different. The NTR-011 cartridges were only compatible with the original DS (Phat) and DS Lite. As there's no GBA/expansion slot on the DSi/2DS/3DS, these cartridges are also not compatible for these consoles.

NTR-016 Carts
The only known NTR-016 cartridge is the Nintendo DS TV Reception Adapter. Whilst not necessarily a game, per se, the NTR-016 cartridge is used as an antenna to allow your DS to receive TV signals. These were released in Japan only.

NTR-030 Carts
The only known NTR-030 cartridge is the Hoshizora Navi, roughly translated as Starry Sky Navigator. Whilst not necessarily a game, per se, the NTR-030 cartridge is used as a positional sensor to allow your DS to bring out your inner astronomer and chart the night sky. These were released in Japan only. The NTR-030 cartridge is similar in colour to the NTR-005 cartridges, utilising the same 9-digit stamp, but with the addition of a positional sensor on the PCB. These are still able to be used, although superceded by an iOS and Android app developed by the same company, AstroArts.
